REMEMBER

51 Years Ago A Sniper Began Firing On Garden Street. Our Police Department Responded.

Nearby residents were at grave risk of being wounded or killed. Today the Township had a solemn ceremony to remember the officers who paid the ultimate price to protect us. Thanks to Charles C Sullivan for the video and images.

Mount Holly PD put out the following statement:

  • This year marks the 51st anniversary of the “Good Friday Massacre”, when the three officers responded to a sniper incident on Garden Street in 1975. Patrolmen Aleshire and Wurst were tragically killed, and Patrolman Holmes was critically wounded and later passed away due to complications from his injuries.
