RELIEF FIRE COMPANY REVOKES MEMBERSHIPS
Citing Operational Procedures, The Fire Company Rules On Certain Members
On Monday, Jan 5th, the Relief Fire Company had its monthly meeting. At that meeting, a question was put on the floor about the validity of a “Contributing Member” status, which was given to Commissioners Saucier and Gaskill. The fire company maintains detailed Standard Operating Guidelines and in this instance they found that the SOG did not contain a “contributing member” status. The only status that can be conferred is “firefighter” or “fire police”. A vote was taken and a decision was made that the Contributing Member status did not exist and was therefore revoked.
Mount Holly created a Fire District some years ago which is the taxing body that controls the budget of the fire department and acts as the screening body for FD applicants. Fire companies are separate entities from the District, and “contracted” with the district to provide services.
