KEEPING THE ROAD SAFE
Volunteer Firefighter Andre Younger Responded In The Snow To A Car Fire Today
Snow has the super power to stop everyday concerns and impose a common goal on whole communities: restore mobility. As we find ourselves outdoors struggling to clear the snow, many still choose to delay our own needs to help a neighbor. Whether its the elderly person with snow drifted onto their steps, or the contractor who uses his front-end loader to clears multiple driveways, snow seems to promote altruism.
But there are some among us who give this kind of volunteer energy whether its in a foot of snow or in the blazing heat: our volunteer firefighters.
Today I met Mount Holly firefighter Andre Younger at the scene of a car fire on Mill Street. Andre explained that he responded to the scene with a snow plow to help Westampton Fire Department if they needed snow cleared.
Former Fire District Commissioner Joe Sams said
“For over 8 years, Andre has served as a true volunteer and given weekend hours away from his family for the citizens of Mount Holly. He’s been a stand up guy often running calls by himself, like he did today. He got the plow out there to make the road safe for Westampton and for EMS”.
Police and a Westampton Firefighter stated that they were not aware of any injuries from the blaze.
