HISTORIC PRESERVATION TIME WARP
THE REVIEW PROMISED IN 2024 HAS YET TO BE COMPLETED
Mount Holly has had difficulty staying current with its planning documents. As we covered in the article “Plan, What Plan?”, the actual master plan is decades old and the master plan review which was “adopted” by the Planning Board in September of 2024 was also seriously late. But it at least contained SOME of the thinking by current elected officials. Except some of that thinking changed in 2025, so the whole thing needed to re-thought by our planning professionals.

The Reporter has been asking the same question month after month at Council meetings and receiving the same answer: ERI is working on it. The plan at the beginning of 2025 was for ERI to deliver proposed changes to our legal professionals. The whole process was supposed to take some number of weeks.
But at the November 10, 2025 meeting, Mayor Banks repeated the same refrain about the Master Plan “Historic Preservation” element: ERI is working on it. And he said it will be delivered in December… of this year hopefully.
