Our trash hauler in Mount Holly is Interstate Waste Services from Bridgewater, NJ. In general, I do not have problems with their service, except when I do. The exception happened when the hauler takes my can off the curb, empties it, and dumps it in the westbound lane of Garden Street. That lane is extremely narrow and cars have very little leeway to avoid the can if they mean to stay in their lane. At some point, the can will get hit and then I will be at Lowes spending money to replace it. My Guess: the Township will not reimburse me.
All my attempts to “use the chain of command”, by which I mean the township, failed. My first call was impressive in that the phone was answered and a township employee promised to get in touch with the hauler about my complaint. Wow, great. I have no doubt that a call was placed to Interstate. But the same thing happened the next week and for weeks on end. Unfortunately, the township then returned to form with nobody answering the phone or returning my calls despite requests for a callback.
And so, I went into activist mode. Who has our contract? Interstate Waste. Chris Lucero of Interstate answered and promised to email me so I could send photos. He did and I sent the photos and described the problem. Then it happened again.
My next email jumped up the chain of command a little higher and that prompted Lynne Kohler | Customer Service Manager at LKohler@interstatewaste.com to email me. She promised that the issue would not repeat and wished me a happy holiday.
That was nice. I am waiting to see.
So I am passing this along to all of my neighbors to save you a little work. If you have a trash difficulty, you could try the township the way I did. Or perhaps it might be more efficient to go right to the vendor supplying the service.
