FREE JOURNALISM UNDER THREAT
A MISSION TO INFORM BALANCED AGAINST PROTECTION FROM LITIGATION
The Mount Holly Reporter is a 501[c]4 tax exempt entity established to provide free journalism to residents about government and various civic matters. Township officials have let us know that they consider this kind of journalism a nuisance. One official went so far as to threaten personal lawsuits for each member of the Board. That’s why we carry policies for “errors and omissions” and to cover corporate “Directors and Officers”. Premiums for this coverage are $2,500 annually.
WE WILL ALWAYS provide our journalism for free, but we must raise money to pay these bills.
We do not have a content paywall because it would undermine our mission to inform the residents of Mount Holly. While our website vendor [Substack] does not make that fact particularly clear, it is true that you can still subscribe for free. If you want a free subscription and can’t figure out how, just write to me [nick.sodano@verizon.net] and I will add your email to the list of free subscribers. Or, check us out on Facebook. Facebook articles are harder to read and easier to lose, but reliably free.
Please consider becoming a paid subscriber or making a donation.
We are about half way to our $2,500 goal. If you cant figure out how to subscribe on Substack or can’t afford the $50 charge, feel free to give a lesser amount via check made out to The Mount Holly Reporter, sent to 47 Garden Street in Mount Holly.
