DON'T GET FOOLED
JULES THIESSEN WITHDREW FROM THE FIRE COMMISIONER RACE
A deeply misleading political ad has been circulating in Mount Holly. The ad claims that Jules Thiessen is running for Fire Commissioner. But Thiessen not only withdrew from the race on October 1st, he also said that if elected he will refuse to be sworn in.
So why is his name still on the ballot? Because his withdrawal letter was submitted after a deadline passed.
The text ad was supposedly created by “The Burlington County Labor Voice” which has poured tens of thousands of dollars into recent township elections. [See the article “Is that Legal?” for more detail on Burlington County Labor Voice]
The ad cynically claims Thiessen will serve while his letter to the County Clerk says the opposite. The only candidate on the ballot who will serve is Gary Brotz.
If the Burlington County Labor Voice misleads enough voters into voting for a candidate who will not serve, the Mount Holly Fire District will have to wait until a special election is completed before it gets a permanent new Commissioner.
Below is a copy of the withdrawal letter submitted by Mr. Thiessen.

Jules' letter speaks for itself. He does not want your vote and if elected he said he will not be sworn in or serve. The message is clear. He does not even have a lawn sign for himself at his house. There is one at 223 High Street which reveals the political operative behind the campaign to mislead. June Gaskill has a sign in front of her house. Judge Cook found that June Gaskill violated the Local Government Ethics Law when she voted for fire director while her husband was an employee of the Fire Commission. She has a Thiessen sign in front of her house. The leadership of the Mt. Holly Democratic Committee, including Casey Carty and myself endorse Gary Brotz. Jules has declared he is not a candidate. Believe Jules. Don't believe the ethically challenged people pretending he is still running.
